Suspension (Unsigned)

Suspension Premieres At Special USC Campus Screening Published: 30 June, 2008
EasyAction Pictures, a collective formed by cinema alumni from the University of Southern California, has chosen a special screening at their alma mater to celebrate the DVD release of their first feature film, Suspension. The screening (June 1, 7:30pm) is the LA premiere of Suspension which is being distributed domestically by Warner Home Video.

Suspension, a sci-fi thriller about a man who gains the ability to stop time, has appeared at several film festivals in the US and Europe including Cinequest and Sci-Fi London, and won the "Best Science Fiction Film" award from the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival. The movie was made on a budget of under $250,000 in independent investment and shot entirely in Kansas. The project took over three years to complete, mainly due to the large number of special effects shots. Over one third of the running time of Suspension is special effects shots, a very unusual fact for an independent film.

Director Ethan Shaftel and writer/producer Aris Blevins met as undergraduates at USC and worked in the video-game industry together after getting their film degrees. They formed EasyAction and gathered their team from video-game colleagues. Suspension was filmed in Shaftel's hometown in Kansas, where he had made short films and won awards from festivals and institutions such as the American Film Institute.

Suspension will premiere on Sunday, June 1st, 7:30pm at the famed Norris Cinema Theater on USC campus, where much of Spielberg's, Lucas's, and Zemeckis's early work is still shown to incoming students.

"Finely made science-fiction / tragic-monster story...the most imaginative use of 3-D stop-time since The Matrix."
- San Jose Metro (Richard vo Busack)

“Almost-too-painful portrayals of loss and longing by Scott Cordes and Annie Tedesco in the leading roles . . . It is a riveting experience. And you will not believe the sophistication of the special effects that allow the moviemakers to freeze reality."
- The Kansas City Star (Robert Butler)
